Anyone have knowledge of the Independencia? She was listed in Dominican Navy up until 1998 or so but can?t seem to find much information about her post US Coast Guard Service (she did have the distinction as one of only three ships to sink a German submarine off US Coast during WW II)

i presume you are talking about this ship: http://www.uscg.mil/history/webcutters/Icarus_1932.pdf
wiki here: USCGC Icarus (WPC-110) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
marina de guerra has a website but does not list her as an active ship: Unidades Actuales

i guess you could write to MdG and ask. independencia was last classified as patrullero independencia P-204.

Yes, it is former USCG Cutter "Icarus." I was interested in what she did post USCG Career. I recall reading she was somehow involved in civil war of 1960's

What was the name of Trujillo's yacht?

I keep hearing that changing a ship's name is bad luck. But it seems that it is very rare for a ship NOT to have its name changed.
