Cedula office closed

We went to renew our cedula's at the JCE office this week, unfortunately they are "installing a new computer system" so the office is closed until April 21st. We were advised to call 809 537 9649 for updates.

Have we reached a consensus here about what this means for the cedulas and residency permit cards of foreigners? Will we be allowed to renew them as usual or will the renewal date be pushed forward so that everyone has the new cedulas this year?

I don't think foreigners will be bothered about their cedula for awhile. JCE will have a huge job getting Dominicans switched to the new cedula.

If it's like the usual,they will reach the 21st., and realize they forgot to order the cards!

How fortunate that they "Just Happen" to be closed for all of "Semana Drunko"! :dead::dead::dead::dead::dead:
