we used to have one that charged 1500 to fill the tank but seem to have lost the number, other people have mentioned 3000 odd for less water , does anyone have any contacts for a reliable tanker man to fill our cisten that charges a reasonable amount.

Also the coraaplata web site and email contact doesnt seem to work, does anyone know how best to contact them.We will be going in person but would like to annoy them with e mails and telephone calls as well

everyone seems to be saying over 3000 pesos now - are these trucks in league with coraplata, Im sure they used to be a lot less 2 years ago ( every four years there seems to be a problem with coraplata supplying water)

there is a shortage of water, everywhere in the country. maybe the prices reflect that? i will be going out later on so i will try to take some numbers of water trucks in POP and see what prices they have.

used jos? bonilla as recommended by three different people - he charged 3000 for the full tank, not sure how much it holds, I think he possibly charges the same however much you need out of a full tank

DV* is right.

So far this year only 23.5 inches of rain has fallen on the North Coast between Sosua and Cabarete. This is lower by 4.6 inches on the 6 year average and some 16 % below that average. April has been very dry with only 0.1 inches recorded so far at this location. Normally there is 9 plus inches of rain in April so there is a lot to go! Last year was only an average year so there hasn't been the benefit of major storms to replenish the water supply.
On the Team we think it is going to get worse so be prepared. Wells have been drying up too so sometimes having a well will not solve the problem.
Five weeks without water in La mulatta is a long time and the people at La Mulatta 3 who supported the new pump etc at Panarama Village did a wise thing last year ! Great community effort.

other people have been charged more for only two weeks supply of water - the price has doubled in two years and I was told two years ago that I paid too much, but no one has ever come up with a supplier that charges less in this area.

The maestro I use has been getting water for 1100 pesos per truck. A few weeks ago he reconditioned a swimming pool in Terramar and this was the price. I'll confirm tomorrow if this is still the price and post the contact info.

in the mean time we have to pay coraplata for no water or we lose the contract and they will never supply any without a reconnection charge of however many thousand pesos

coraaplata has several locations where water trucks can fill up. they pay some low price for this. of course some truck fill in the rivers/streams, depending on the situation. this is the reason why one should treat this water.

JR,
We hear that Perla Marina has just a trickle and no pressure at all.

JR, we live on La Mulata and have not had any water via pipe from Corraplata for over a month. We have had to buy water (we use Jose Bonilla - yes at RD3000 per truck). From what Corraplata says, it is a system-wide issue, partially due to little/no rain; rivers are low and Corraplata cannot get the pressure needed to supply everyone. It is our opinion that there are more issues than that, but they like to use the low river excuse because that's out of their control. We do find it ironic that there is enough water for the water truck guys to fill up at the Corraplata pump stations. And of course it doesn't help that people do not conserve water here. :(

so we are paying our bills to coraaplata who are selling our water to trucks so we can buy it back again at 6 times the cost of what is charged to other areas

Jose Bonilla Telephone: 809-589-0032 Cell: 809-657-4166 contact with him to know his price

I've gotten two truckloads from him in the last week. RD$3000 for a full truck, supposedly 3000 gallons. The first was fine but a little short, the second was full of rust. It looked clean going in, but a little while after he left I started getting rust in the house and now my cistern has a nice rust layer. It must have been settled on the bottom of the trucks. I called him, he says it must be my tank, and wont any my calls anymore.
