I do not think this is a discussion of passport aesthetics. They are all similar in size and appearance: a shield and a country name on the outside and a photo on the inside. US passports are prettier than they used to be, but passports are rather like socks: their appearance is secondary to their utility.

I am thinking a passport from Moldova, Eritrea, Zimbabwe, Tajikistan or even worse, Palestine, South Ossetia, Abkhazia or Transnestria would be worse. A passport from a country that is barely recognized by anyone has to be the worst.

Passports - Closed Tread

The thread by dv8 was directly related to Dominicans ability to leave the country and travel without a visa.
Why close it?
As it stands the US, Canada and Europe claim to be fighting for human rights and to be non-discriminatory.
Dominicans are frequently denied temporary tourist visas to the afore mentioned countries, solely on the basis of their nationality.
If a married Dominican cannot obtain a visa to visit a financially solvent spouse there is something wrong!
Many Dominicans do not want to emigrate, but would like to have a chance to travel and see their world.
By visa restrictions Dominicans are denied the right to be citizens of the world.
So much for the propaganda of human rights by the "free democracies".
Because some Dominicans overstay visas and work illegally, the whole population of the country should not be condemned.

When the world wide average of people who violate their visa is about 3% and the average for the Dominican Republic is 90%+, YES, they should be.

OK. Dominicans can go to 43 countries without a visa. But how many can they actually get to?

Some? How about many. There's is a reason why some Latin American countries can travel or obtain visas with relative ease while others can't. Google it. This last thing the US taxpayers need is developing country "overstays" swelling up the welfare rolls and clogging up hospital ER's.
