Default The Poorest City in DR

I am wondering which city is the most poorest and that has high number of children that comes from a poor family that has little or no money. I think the project I would like to develop will change the vision but I need to know where and which city I should start with.

    Any help is appreciated.

anything along the haitian border. elías piña is probably the poorest province with dajabon, independencia and pedernales not far behind. a capital of elías piña is comendador. maybe you can start there.

The provinces of the south west are usually cited as the country's poorest, based on the human development indicators: Azua, Pedernales, Barahona, Bahoruco (Neiba), Independencia (Jimani), Comendador (Elías Piña) and San Juan de la Maguana.
Name of provincial capital in parentheses if not the same as the name of the province.

Haina would be my vote. They used to reprocess lead from car batteries there and it's an environmental holocaust. The lead is in the dust in the streets and causes mental retardation in the kids there.

One of the top ten polluted places on Earth:

A sad situation, but a long way from being the poorest city/town in the DR.

Mao is a prosperous provincial capital with lots of commercial activity largely from rice and banana cultivation - far from the poorest in the country.
