Chocolate made with cocoa grown in DR?
of course it exists. there are small factories making chocolate in few places in DR. on the north coast we have chocal:

The government seems to be helping a lot of small group of farmers and are trying to industrialize chocolate (vs. just exporting it to large international companies). Here are two examples:

This famous cacao farm in San Francisco sells 100% DR chocolate. It's a nice way to learn about chocolate as well:

Glen Herdman from Cabarete makes and sells 100% organic Dominican cacao products. Herdman Foods Srl @ 809-320-7715 is in the free trade zone in POP and their products are sold at some farmacias in the area as well as end caps at Playero check out aisles. I'm sure a phone call will tell you where you can purchase in others areas of the country.
I have been here in the DR for six weeks doing nothing else (almost nothing else) except sourcing good chocolate made in country. Quality is often one's own preference and price willing to pay. Chocal is making good chocolate. I have been there three times on this trip. Another group outside of Hato Mayor is also doing a nice job. They sell

Another group to visit is at the turn off to Chocal and are called Choco Lala and are carmalizing a little sugar and ginger
