Wonder if it was Lindo's ? Will await more details. The rest of the stores are more mini-markets.

The robbers collected high priced alcohol stuff and then drew their pistols at the cashier's ... :pirate:

Did they take the change as well? Or did they just accept candy in exchange as usual ?

The DR is going down in flames each Day! I mean, where do your hear about supermarket heists around the developed world today! Tsk, tsk...

Maybe the crooks couldn't read (as usual) and were thinking the place was a bank?

Exactly donP.... the RD economy is now strong enough to warrant stealing.......................... from the rich.....

add Robin Hood to my list above

not long ago , if you robbed - all you would net is a handful of IOU's

Most bank robberies dont net that much. Check cashing joints groceries, and convenience stores top the lists.

Thankfully nobody was hurt.

The easiest and most profitable way to steal in the DR is to become a politician...

Most people will jump and say: Aha!

But the thing is that in the DR politicos learned how to cover their tracks. Everybody KNOWS for a FACT they stole, yet when the FACTS can't be corroborated by evidence (documents, hard evidence) they walk scot-free...

One can argue till dropping death on the spot, but it's what it is. A Senator pushes for a bill that will favor a certain group of people of companies. The "favor" is returned in the form of another "favor" but this time around, the deed goes under the name of an associate or company set up just for that. And the chain goes on and on.

Take the PRD's idol that was Pena Gomez. The one that never could be proven to profit from his political positions in gov. Yet his entire family and circle of associates are wealthy today.

That's why in the DR the saying is not a saying, but a fact of life and profit: Relations are everything in the DR...
