Dominican women win 3rd Pan Am Cup volleyball gold
Mexico City.- Dominican Republic?s women volleyball team went undefeated in six games to win their third gold medal at a Pan American Cup, beating the U.S. 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-21 Thursday night.
The U.S. had defeated Dominican Republic in last year?s final.
The Dominicans? win also classifies them for the World Championship Grand Prix 2015, their 12th consecutive appearance since 2003.
"This is another new victory to the Dominican Republic and we now prepare for the 2014 Grand Prix and the World Championship in Italy," said national team president Crist?bal Marte.
Team captain Bethania de la Cruz led the attack by scoring 18 points, followed by Gina Mambr? with 15 and Yonkaira Pe?a, 9 .
