When departing POP airport, after going upstairs to the departure lounge, make sure you check out the second duty free area before purchasing from the first. I noticed an $8 difference on buying 3 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes and $4 difference on several bottles of Spirits.

Most of the items in "Duty Free" can be purchased for a lot less at your local Supermarket in the DR. Ripoff City.

Yep. Booze is way cheaper at a local calmado. Duty free is a unique buying experience!

Only problem with you thrifty shoppers, booze has to be in checked luggage, nothing like saving $4 and spilling a bottle of A?ejo all over your Huck-a-Poo's!

For sure. A friend of mine likes Barcelo Crema, it's about $12-15US in supermarkets. On the way back to US, her son surprised her by buying a bottle in duty free. It was $40US!!!!!!!
