The photos of Bahia Blanca at TripAdvisor were a bit scary. The location is great, but it looks a bit run down. Bring your own pillows/linens from what I saw. Maybe they've upgraded since then...

Are you looking to golf? I am not sure of the current state of the course. I know it was under construction. If you are just hitting the beach that is always great.
Was looking to spend a couple days there later this year, yes golfing if possible.
Their web site says:
"The Playa Grande Golf Course is currently under renovation. There are always 9 holes available to play and delivery of the fully renovated golf course is expected within the second half of 2014."
I wonder if its on a Dominican schedule
still just 9 holes - the original front 9.....
hotel suggestions are good.... los Gringos is on abeach and has excellent food... restaurant on site nad a German one right next door..... not more than 20 minutes to PG.
There is the Hotel Abreu..... of which I know little.

Hotel La Catalina, which was mentioned above is lovely and less than a 10 minute drive from Playa Grande.
