How much is an Inverter nowadays?

Living the last 5 years in Bavaro I didn't have to think about.

Now I gotta move back into the realm of the Ede's (Higuey) and I want to buy an Inverter.

Found a company who sells / installs them (thanks George! ;))

Before contacting them I would like to know the average price for a 2.5 and 3.6 model w/ 4 (Trojan) Batteries.

Would 30 to 40,000 be a good estimate?

Thanks for your input...

Outback Inverters

Just yesterday a German electrician in LT told me about a German in LG who may want to sell his Outback inverters (with chargers, I believe).
If interested I could get you his #.

LG = Las Galeras?

Thanks. :) But I prefer to buy new with warranty and closer to where I will live in case of a problem...

2 x DR3624

(...) I would like to know the average price for a 2.5 and 3.6 model...

Same here.
I have 4 Trace DR3624.
Two of them are stored as emergency / standby appliances.
Since the installation of our solar panels the 2 inverters in use have never developed any problems and I think this is due to the 2 connected Outback chargers which take much of the load off them.
So, I may have 2 for you.

Understandable. ;)
Can they repair Trace or Outback inverters in Higuey?

I hope they can. Gotta figure that out. Picking up one of yours would be a nice reason to have a trip to Samana with the GF though...:)

Yes. There are some changes in progress... From a DR wife to a DR GF (and future 2nd wife...) :dead:... No fui yo. Fue sin querer...

That is why I will move to Higuey and why I am in the market to buy some stuff. Will start over...

Those sound like crazy prices..

I'd like to see some breakdowns of what other folks are spending on their systems. I see whole systems on YouTube for well under $2000 including the panels and batteries. Must depend on how much power you want. Maybe if you want AC and a pool pump..

I need for fan, lights, a TV and my computer equipment (4 PC with 6 monitors). I think 2.4 w/ 4 batteries should be enough...

Free Fan

This outback stuff looks expensive...

Yes, but worth the price.
Outback is top of the line and very reliable.

Very good when it comes to warranty, too.
Once I contacted them how much a fan for the FLEXmax would be [I always like to have a spare at hand].
They did not respond... just sent me one free. :classic:

Outback vs. Trace/Xantrex/Schneider

Same here. My DR3624 are very good 'machines'.
However, if I had to buy new again, I'd choose Outback. :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

Indeed, your power requirements and the quality of the components determine the price.
2,000$ won't get you far...

I was told not too many outages there. So the fridge without power for a couple hours wouldn't be a problem. Computers without power would be the problem.

Also not sure if I would spend the money for an inverter solution for the whole place... (30+ bombillos, bomba, calientador, jacuzzi, tvs etc...)

It is a huge house for the price (rental) of an apartment in Cocotal or Punta Cana Village. I couldn't say no... :)

In Barahona, a guy I know said that he paid $10,000 pesos for a 1500KW inverter, $4900 for each of two 12 v deep cycle batteries, and about 3000 for a guy to build a cage to put around the whole affair to prevent it from walking away. So that is a total of $22,800 for what I would call a minimal system. That is roughly US$530. All the stuff he said he bought new and it has been working for 3 years.

1500KW is about the current drain of the average woman's hair dryer, but it is enough to light the house and run a TV and DVD player and maybe a fan.

The refrigerator is not on the system, but with the 9-12 hours people in Palmerito get every day, that is enough to keep stuff from spoiling.
