Default Bringing in a phone, estimated tax cost?

I'm importing a phone via encargopaq with a value of approximately 500$ .. has anyone attempted something like this and what were the estimated tax cost? I'm assuming the tax on it won't exceed 40% of the value or approximately 200$ or so in tax, if that's the cost it's not too big of an issue.

The list of customs charges says 3% + 18% for cell phones. So 21%.

Just need to know : it's 21% on the part over 200$ (21% of 300$) or 21% of total ?

I am sure this is good information, but a lot depends on the alignment of the Moon to Jupiter that day. Bottom line is no one can predict with complete accuracy what you will pay.

EPS for the empty box and papers. In your pocket for entry. Cost? Less!

The invoice did not show $196 ?

But seriously, as others have said, it all depends on what they do that particular time. There is nothing transparent about DR Customs.

    Default Customs Charges

I use EPS. I asked owner of the Sosua office if I could rely on these charges and she said I could, that there has been no problems.
