I believe so.
One time some people I know attempted to bring a moto across, a total disaster and not one the guys running the ferry were too keen to do on a regular basis.
If memory serves...There were only two crossings a day.
Mind you, it is very possible that there have been improvements and upgrades since.
If you do find yourself taking a ride across......don't forget your lifejacket.

Don you guys know if there is a domestic flight from punta Cana to samana? I can't find any info anywhere where t9 catch it or who to talk to . I need to get from PC to samana but don't want to do the driving . I prefer to fly. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks

There used to be regular flights from PUJ to El Portillo (Las Terrenas).
No more.
El Portillo airstrip is closed.
Alternatives would be to fly to AZS (El Catey) or Arroyo Barril.
You'd have to charter a plane for that, which is not cheap...

Are you going to Samana City or some where else on the Samana Peninsula? You could take Bavaro Express bus to SD and then take a bus to Samana. There are no regualarly scheduled flights within the DR.
