Josefina Stubbs has been appointed vice president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development. IFAD is a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to ending rural poverty. She previously served as director of its Latin America and Caribbean Division.
She has also been a senior social development specialist at the World Bank, and regional director for Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean at Oxfam.
She holds several degrees in economics and development, including a doctorate in Political Sciences and International Development from The Hague University, a masters in business management from the Universidad de Barcelona and in sociology from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo.
