Been here almost three weeks and we are making progress in settling in. The house is devoid of curtains however. In my trips to various stores I have seen generic Venetian blinds but I haven't seen curtains. I suspect these will have to be made from scratch as the height of some of the doors and windows exceeds 8 feet.

Any suggestions on how best to address the need to make bedrooms dark and procure curtains for all of the general living spaces?

Gracias in advance.

Rgds.

Hidelisa in POP at the end of C. Antera Mota - buy the fabric there & get a good seamstress to make up your curtains.
it is the only viable solution here!

I'm a big fan of the Dignitet curtain hanging wire from Ikea*. I like the quality and variety of Ikea's curtains as well.

Here's a clever hack to add tension if you have big windows:

Be sure to get bars on your windows to protect against thieves. The thieves here in the Dee Ah are motivated and clever.

I live in Santiago
I have some from IKEA on rods from Bellon and panels from IKEA too.

But i am going to order next from select blinds. I have bought from them in US. They are well packed and cheap.

Not sure I like the use of metal in the IKEA products. How long before they corrode in this humid environment?

Prefer wooden rods and supports

Babboons in the Finca

Given a choice, I would prefer to live somewhere that is baboon-free.

Large windows and sliding doors.
No curtains.
Looking out at the green jungle for miles.

Baboons will be shot.
Surving baboons will be shot again.

BTW, what is a baboon....?? :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

I do hope CdnGringo has not been lacking in curtains for three years. We roll our own using wooden curtain rods readily available.
