A Dominican friend of mine recently finished university with a degree in Hotel and Tourism and he worked at a resort. He just got laid off his job at the resort and he is interested in getting hotel work experience in the United States.

He found this on the internet ... anyone know about it? Is it a scam? Lots of fees ... is it real? Anyone dealt with this company? Company name is SHANCE. Chances of success in getting a visa? Your input is appreciated.

Where did he find this ad? If it was CraigsList you can mark it as a scam.

I assume your friend speaks English and Spanish.

The very best way to get a job in the hotel field in the US is to find one company that is willing to sponsor and hire him. It will take some creativity and some leg work, but much better chances for getting a legitimate and stable position.

I would research areas with low unemployment. There are literally hundreds of jobs in the Williston, North Dakota area, due to a massive oil boom, but the availability of housing is very scarce and extremely expensive.

The company SHANCE is in Santo Domingo. From what I gather, they "help" people find work for a fee ... actually several fees ...

Some DR members can be overly critical of what they believe are unnecessary or foolish posts, where the answer should be obvious to the OP.
