Hi,

I am trying to ship some personals items from DR to UK and was wondering if anybody knew about a
company in Dr doing this? by air or sea ( preferred would be sea as the total weight would be about 180 kilos in 3 big box).

Thank you,
Regards,
Patrick

I used Caribe Cargo to send my personal effects from Punta Cana to UK Gatwick this year. Their customer service was good (though sometimes had to chase up email queries with a phone call). Contact Gissel for a quote and pricing.

As I wasn’t in the UK to receive my goods I used KRL, a clearing agent, to receive them and deliver to a UK address. Make sure you as them for the C3 personal effects UK clearing form.

KRL handling charges:
Airline Handling: ?0.17p/kg or ?35.00 Min
Clearance: ?50.00
Storage: ?15.00 per 100kgs or part thereof per day after the initial 24hrs.
additional charge for delivery to uk address.

side note: at PUJ all 9 of my large cases were opened and searched. As some contained valuables I was permitted to watch from behind a cage. The agents made a right mess repacking and even forgot to put one small item back leaving it on the floor under a pallet. After much (polite) protest they allowed me inside the cage to repack my stuff (take duct tape with you!)
My stuff was kept overnight at PUJ so I tie wrapped the suitcases' zipper tags together and tie wrapped them to the case handles so the cases couldn't be opened with the pen-in-the-zip trick.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information yb1. Has anyone used any of the shippers in Puerto Plata to send things to the UK, as some of my items may be too heavy for airfreight? I would be very interested in your findings Patrick. Caz
