I bought this book and am in the process of reading it on my Kindle. The story develops slowly but is interesting enough to keep the reader moving forward. This fictional story revolves around the early history of Las Terrenas and the people that lived there. It follows their struggles to survive during the Trujillo Era in the DR. The author weaves a story around a family that has survived despite the odds being against them. Entertaining read. 7 out of 10 Coconuts.

The best book on the DR I have read so far is called Why the Cocks Fight. The first chapter is excruciatingly boring but once you get past chapter one its a good read. It explains a lot of the DR history from the authors perspective. If its 100% accurate I dont know but it does answer a lot of question on why things are the way they are
