Yeh, I'm sick of it. Another 'give an inch and .............' typical Dominican disaster. Obviously though, it is excusable legal greed. I'm getting 28% on EVERYTHING now and its annoying. 18%tax 10% service charge on my laundry the other day. 500pesos to clean and iron 4 shirts.

The average Dominican will have less food on the table for their family..........

TSS - 80000 for the month, INFOTEPH tax 3700 for the month. There are lots of other money the goverment collects if you are a business.
There is no Itebis on rice and gandules, is there?

The Grupo Ramos Supermercados (La Sirena and Ole) are going to absorb the 2% increase. That is a little good news for consumers.

I remember when I quit smoking it was 75 cents to get a package out of a machine, or $5 per carton from the store. I bought a carton here in the DR for my MIL for Christmas and it was just over a 1000 pesos. I noticed a lb of caf? Santo Domingo went from 195 to between 205-209 pesos.
Coffee is going to go way up with the crop problems in the Americas. I wouldn't be surprised if it more than doubles.

Do Dominicans smoke anyway? I'm sure the only time they do is when they see a foreigner with a packet and can get one free. That's not smoking as a habit, thats greed. If a foreigner was giving away underpants made from drawing pins then they would still have your arm off over some, for free.
The bid chain stores "Absorbed" the tax increases last year as well, but they only do it for one month, as a ploy.
I can't believe the Dominican public stands still for an 18% tax on ANYTHING!!!!!!!
