This looks like a game changer. I'm glad I waited to have my internet installed until at least now. I know that Tricom doesn't necessarily have a good reputation for reliability and customer service. Do you guys know if this is fiber optic? What are your opinions of this?

Hope this comes to Santiago.

I'm paying $4,000 for 10mbps at the moment and that's without cable TV.

Claro is smart. They are offering speeds up to 100mbps, as well as offering a 40mbps option for $RD2995 and $RD3595 depending on whether or not you want 240 or 290 channels. Also included in this package are 500 minutes. I think this is a great strategy because some consumers may want/need more than 20mbps and not quite 100mbps. Looks like I waited for just the right amount of time!

Tricom internet service by cable is much better than Claro, the spped is most stable.

Go to the Claro website and look under Todo Claro-Multiplan Triple.

You can get the 40mps with Superior or Avanzado Cable and 1,000 minutes telephone for RD$3,115(Superior) or RD$3,715(Avanzado).

I think it is a better deal than what they had offered in the paper with only 500 minutes.

For us "too far from a CLARO central DSL station", cable modems are still a better option. Perhaps someday CLARO will have fiber on the north coast and they will be a better option.

All the deals include a cable TV package. Why do they force crappy Dominican TV on us?

i have just signed a contract yesterday with claro. I am in the fiber optic line zone.
40mb download and 5mb upload internet speed. I get superior HD channel package with 240+ channels, 500 minutes of talk time.
all for $ 2,995+tax= $3882 pesos / month.
considering that I was paying almost the same amount for 6meg download, this package seems like a great deal.
AZB
Note; contract is 18 month

Wish someone would get it done and get fiber to Cortecito stat. I'd love to have 10mb internet speeds. Or least fast enough internet that the TV does not drop out on me.

you don't get it in Cortecito? are you sure? as those services are available in Bavaro.

Mike

I'll have to confirm. When I got service set up in March, I was told in 2-3 months. When I moved in November, they still hadn't hit Cortecito.
