I am, by no means, a coffee connoisseur though I did really enjoy the Olivo family coffee that I was able to score a while back. For every day use I like to drink a 50/50 mix of Santo Domingo and the darker Monte Alto ground coffee. The Santo Domingo is available everywhere but it has been a long time now since I have been able to find any Monte Alto and I just opened my last bag. I used to get it on our monthly grocery shopping trips into the city at La Sirena but they have not had it lately. Has Monte Alto succumbed to the rust that laid waste to the Olivo coffee? If not, does anyone know where I can find it now?

I can't find it either - but if you can find Santo Domingo Espresso, it's not bad at all, much better than the regular roast.

Funny, noticed the lack of monte alto too recently........la sirena and national in santiago.
Fell back on monte real, which has a sort of choclate taste......ok from time to time.

Glad to see the Monte Alto is still available. The bags on the bottom shelf, left side, look like the bags the Olivo coffee came in. Different label though. Is it from the same plantation?

If it is can you buy every bag, I'll pay you double plus shipping.
CB needs to confirm first, may just be a black bag???

The bags in the bottom left are called Gran Cafe Organico Gourmet.

Is it as smooth as Olivo Family, or a wanna be high end bean?
AE are you reading this, I need a substitute present, LOL.
I am stocking up tomorrow on Bleeker Street @ Porto Rico Trading.

Try Kafe, from Rancho Arriba. I find it comparable to rancho OLIVIO.

For Monte Alto you can call the company in Jarabacoa and they will put 10 pounds on Caribe Express for you. They have a bank number at Popular I believe that you deposit the money to. I visited their plant, quite a large and impressive operation! Nice people. We get the beans so having 10 pounds not a problem.
