Does anyone know what the rate schedule is for Puerto Plata Electric, versus EdeNada, or where I can find that?

We rented a house in Torre Alta for a year for a little break while we tear down and rebuild a property in Sosua. Claro is moving our phone and internet. Tomorrow we have to get electric service connected. Apparently we may have a choice? it would be nice to have pretty much 24/7 power. But then after all these years here I am fine with our inverter and batteries if the price to pay for that per KwH is too high.

1st 200 Kwh $7.82/Kwh next 100 Kwh $9.82/Kwh over 300 Kwh $10.00/Kwh

Being fine with an inverter and batteries is one thing, but you do realize that about 30% of the power you take from that inverter and battery system is wasted energy going through the charger, into the battery, then from the battery through the inverter so you can use it when power is off. Each of those stages loses some power.

And where do you get the power in the first place to charge those batteries? The private firm called Puerto Plata Electricity, in your new location it would seem. Every kWh you take from the batteries is about 1.3 times more expensive not including the cost of the batteries and the inverter and their replacement or maintenance.

24x7 electric in Torre alta has gone out 3 times this week. No biggie really, but the 24x7 claim is dubious.

According to reports about generator problems in Santiago and repairs of others, there could be many outages this winter.
