I've heard that there are a few diesel specialists in Santiago. I'm looking for one that can re-condition the injectors on my Mercedes. It's the latest common-rail diesel engine, so I really need someone who has experience and the equipment to replace the nozzles and calibrate them.

Cheers.

There is one near me. They are on the autopista as you come from Porto Plata just after the lumber supply "madeco" on the right. That's is before coming to 27 Febrero turn. The sign says labrotorio diesel. Don't know anything about them I just remember the sign.

The local Mercedes dealer?????????????????????
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Unfortunately the Merc dealer do not recondition the injectors, they replace them. At over $500 each! Ouch! And there's six of em!!!

The bad diesel here causes premature wear on the nozzle heads. Those nozzles can be replaced and calibrated at a fraction of the cost of whole new injectors. But it needs a specialist to do it.

My 1996 Nissan Patrol Y 60, 6 cil. Turbo Diesel has had 260.000 km. without any problem what so ever. From the beginning filled it up with only premium diesel and ad every 2000 km. Super Diesel Additiv from Liqui Moly (German). It works PERFECT !!!

I’ve heard very different rumors about this “diesel lab”.

I you like you can contact me with a PM. I happen to know a first class Swiss mechanic in Santiago.

Tried all the additives even run a few gallons of Jet fuel through it. (Perks of being an aircraft engineer!)

However I think the injectors are worn, so no amount of additives will put back what's worn out. The car still starts and runs fine and pulls like a train. It's just getting quite smoky, especially at idle once warmed up. 110,000kms on bad diesel will do it. Too much sulphur in the diesel here.

I've ordered a spare injector, so the plan is to replace them one by one and get them overhauled here locally one at a time.

Do you have a number for Nelfis?

The only company I know that has had years of diesel experience and an owner that cares.
The sales boss is the owners daughter, Michelle Villanueva. She speaks perfect english.
It might be worth giving them a call and if they cannot help, maybe they will know someone.

Yes! Result!

I can send my injectors down to them via Metropaq and they'll service and calibrate them for me.

Just waiting for the maestro to get back to me with a price.

Thanks Robert!

Excellent. I have only heard good things about them.

If you speak to Michelle, say hello.
