Good Tea

Do nettles grow in the DR?

Not, that I know of.
At least I have never come across this kind (unfortunately...):

Nettles are a prolific and invasive species and should under no circumstances ever be allowed here as living plants. Why on earth would anyone want nettles? To eat? Buy spinach and pretend?

Do they have some medicinal value?

Are they useful as a repellent for insects and rodents? Can you use them to make Itchy scratch himself to death?

Nettles have many uses.

There are witch doctor wannabe's who believe that nettles can be used as medicine for several conditions but there is no evidence to support such claims.

There are many kinds.
The one we had in Germany made a good spinach, a helpful tea and we also used its decoction as pesticide.
Their ecological value (for butterflies) is known.

We used to soak nettles in a drum (to make a "muck"?) and leave it for days/weeks.
Horrible smell, but yes, a very good fertilizer.
Maybe there are weeds here, that could be used as well. Finding and experimenting would be the problem...

There are lots of stinging nettles in the DR, and they look exactly like the stinging nettles in Canada and the USA.
