Hello all, I used to be a regular to this board but had problems with my business and never managed to make the trip. The trip, if any of you recall; was purchase 100-150cc motorcycle in POP and circumnavigate the country, excluding Haiti (I speak no French). Anyway, everything straightened out here and plan back on schedule. I hope to arrive POP in November and purchase said motor. If anyone is interested in joining me, sound off! My Spanish is good. I would say excellent but that's what i thought about Cuba and could hardly understand a word they said........je je je.........I will once again be pumping you folks for information which I know you have a ton of.........becky

There was a nice lady did this exact thing last year, had a great time, met many DR1ers on her tracks, I think she even stayed at night at Roberts up in Jarabacoa, the biker conndction n all. She made a good impact and got lots of credability for actually doing it the hard way.

Maybe one of the mods would kindly nagivate the impossible search mystery function and find out her nick nmae to trach down her posts, if you say pretty please:knockedou

Welcome back to DR1.

I'd strongly encourage you to speak with Cobraboy, and see if you can make some arrangements with him. Far better machines, safer, and you'll have a much more pleasant experience. His website is being refreshed, but you can PM him at his handle on this board once you make ten posts.

Frank is currently abroad. No I do not know her name. Enjoy your adventure but please do not drive on these roads at night.

If you do drive at night do it Dominican style. Disconnect both the head light and taillight. You might as well a make a sport out of it. Welcome back and good luck.

Well I told you it was an Alien search engine. I tried 'biker Dominican Republic', 'single woman biker does DR', 'female bike tour DR' etc etc and although I am very greatful for BBQ ribs receipes, local Sosua pool cleaners and 'the prices of viagra' it's not what I was looking for. If I knew the name of thread which it looks like you do then chances are you don't need to search for it. But well done!

Actually I didn't.

I used the search Multiple content types tab in the search function, keyword = motorcycle, find posts = a year ago and older, sort by = date in descending order. Looked for threads with a large number of replies, ignored those with only one or two, and there it is on the second page.

It's that simple.

Anyway, I hope the OP reads it because it was an informative thread.

You are impressive, I can't even find threads that I posted in the past! I have stopped even trying the search function.

You're an alien, no human can circumnavigate the 'Seas of Search' around the Dominican Rectangle 1.
People enter that erea and vow never to ho again, some people have opened an account, entered those searching seas and never to be seen again.

that time i was on horseback myself, exploring the USA. great times had up in the Rockies.

Ok I get it but remind again why you are buying a bike vs. renting one. Buying is a little more complicated than in North America. Good luck.
