I have been told that there is either a new labor law amendment or a proposed labor law amendment, eliminating the liquidation benefits of employees.

I have not read anything concerning this in any of the national newspapers. Does anyone have any information on this or any other changes in the Dominican labor laws that have take effect over the last year?

When the new Social Security law was being discussed in Congress, employers argued that since the new law provided for unemployment benefits, their obligation to pay severance should be abolished. Labor argued back that unemployment benefits were not forthcoming for some time under the new law and that therefore discussion of the issue should be left for later. The law was passed without abolishing severance pay.

Let's say an employee worked 12 month, for 3000.00RD$ monthly, and that she already had her vacation this year, how much would her liquidacion be ?

-Was she paid her Xmas pay - Regalia Pascual = 1 month's salary?
-You need to give her at least 2 weeks written notice or pay her the 2 weeks.
-21 days cesantia. (21 x "daily wage")
That's it.
