i don't see an issue here. the key word is "affordable". in comparison to many other caribbean destinations, like bahamas or st lucia DR is cheap and cheerful. and las terrenas is a stunning area. i would maybe discuss this statement: residency is relatively easy to establish. but ten again, there are countries that make it more difficult.

Exactly, dv8. Folk who complain about the high cost of living in DR should spend a day in Grand Cayman or St. Barts. The easy math would be to take whatever your current monthly budget is (in USD), and then put a "1" in front of it.
Nice article. A couple of big plusses for Las Terrenas is that there is El Catey Airport 25 minutes away with connections through JFK and the climate is more moderate than Central America. With the European Population the services available here are great.

Yes it is the rebuilt "village". They did a nice job.
