You seem to know a lot about the resorts in Punta Cana. I am the one who switched from the Hodelpa to the Catalonia. I am only going for 3 nights and don't really plan to leave the Resort. I am mainly concerned about the Service, Food, Atomsphere etc....Have you stayed there recently. Many people don't seem to like the service and food at this property either. I am starting to feel like I just can't win!!! I don't want to spend money and waste it. If you don't mind giving me some fore feedback....

Catalonia

I was at Catalonia in November and found the service, food, and beach all good. The sand on the beach is like white flour and I saw no seaweed at all in the water or the beach. The resort had men raking the area on a daily basis. The rooms are all suites and very clean and comfortable. I found most employees spoke English and the service I received was excellent. I tend to think some of these people write their reviews while they are experiencing huge hangovers. LOL

Hi Kim,
If you plan to stay just 3 days in PC, and dont want to leave the resort. your best choices are:

Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort. this is a huge resort with over 2,000 rooms divided in 5 hotels. the Palace a 5 star hotel and The garden, Beach, Golf and Casino 4 star. they have 14 restaurants, 15 bars, 3 discos, golf course, etc. the beach is spectacular in this area. as you see you wont need to leave the resort. in this resort you can eat lobster all day long.

Iberostar Hotels: this is one of my favorites, rooms, service, food, nightlife, everything is from good to excellent. Iberostar Bavaro is the best of the 3 Iberostar hotels.

Riu: 5 resorts in one. The Riu Palace and Bambu are the 5 star.
great atmosphere, one of the 3 best in PC in my opinion.
food and drinks are excellent. the beach in this area is one of the best. location: just next to iberostar.

Occidental Flamenco: the best choice for the money. great atmosphere, good food, and the best nightlife.
Catalonia is a nice resort, one of the most beautiful, the only problem is their location is far away from everything.

Paradisus is great too, but too expensive.
Melia Caribe & tropical is a good choice too. they have the best landscape in the area. a huge resort with excellent food at the la carte restaurants. ok at the buffet.

If you have any specific question let me know, maybe i can help you a little more.
good luck.

I agree with Dulce. Catalonia is a great resort. but as i said before, the only problem is the location.
but if you like to be in an isolated area, this is the paradise.

When you are going to Punta Cana not thinking about going out the resort, I think that the situation is not important, I mean, it's the same being at the Catalonia like being in Bavaro Princess...
The situation of a resort in Punta Cana is interesting if you are planning to go out, for example at night (the cost of a taxi could a great point to consider...).

Have a nice time.
