Daughter of a trustworthy long time messenger, she was able to enter the private university UNPHU on two scholarships. She has kept the scholarships, with Bs and As. She now will graduate, but guess what, she hasn’t been able to find a job.

She needs a first job, and is looking for one in accounting. Ideally, in a company where she would be mentored.

She is smart, but humble. The university hasn’t helped. She finishes her career in December.

She also won a scholarship to learn English at INTEC university, and took an intensive English course.

She lives with her father and two other sisters in Santo Domingo. Her mother lives in Luperon. So she could work in Santo Domingo or Luperon, Puerto Plata.

Her references would be from her professors.

She doesn't qualify because they are requiring intermediate level English. All she has is a Curso de Inmersion de Ingles at INTEC.
But as we Dominicans say… "no hay peor diligencia que la que no se hace," (there is no worse errand run, than that which is not run). Will get her to apply anyway to that firm and other accounting firms.

Thank you for the lead anyway.

Identify the type of business that needs her skill set. Find out who at each company will be the decision maker. Most will send them a letter or e-mail message. This is where your friend will begin to differentiate herself. Contact each office and set a meeting directly with the person. In preparation for each meeting, research the company. Prepare succinct brief resume with company's name on job objective line. Also, bring a three to five page business plan that clearly explains how she will add value to the company. She should know and be prepared for each potential question at the meeting. There are also specific ways to ask her own questions and how to get the decision maker to offer her the job. Best of luck and tell her to relax and have fun with it!!!
