I am looking to bring an Apple TV back to the RD with me
I have a Netflix account that I can use my iPad to watch. But looking to stream to my
Tv. I am okay with the Latin version of Netflix
Will the Apple TV work here in Santiago?

Thanks

Yes it works providing you have a half decent internet connection and Netflix is on Apple TV.

IPTV also works well here with DSL even at 3-4Mb d/l speed.

I have 20Mb/1Mb service with Claro, but only getting 15Mb/.9Mb.
The Claro specialist blamed it on my distance to the Claro center.

Some parts of Santiago has Claro fiber optic service - but beware!

Claro called and offered a promotional package, so I agreed to get it, only problem, they don't have fiber optic in the barrio where I live.

The package includes TV service, and they kept trying to install the TV portion using a dish, I told them no, not until they connect the fiber optic.

After fighting with them for a month about it, they sent out a specialist and he told me it will be next year before they have fiber optic where I live.

I bought my own ADSL2 Modem/Router (About $25) because the ones Claro supplies does not allow you to enter your choice of DNS servers. Thus there are some sites that may be blocked at times.

The specialist from Claro gave me a kinda laugh/smile when I explained that was why I had my own Modem/Router. Claro was blocking a VOIP service of mine until I put in Google's DSN servers.

Another thing to be aware of with Internet service here, since you will be streaming video TV.

Claro appears to offer unlimited bandwidth on their DSL service.
I have not had any limits imposed on the amount of bandwidth I have used.

My neighbor just recently had "Wind Telecom" service installed.
I got a brochure from the installers - no way Jose - Bandwidth Limit$ - No Wind Telecom for me.

Overall, I'm very happy with Claro - The fiber option problem was because of the "Sales" people.
Claro had technicians here 4 times working with me - The last one being the specialist.

Turned out the original problem I had was a bad Claro modem / besides the fiber optic issue.

Get the KODI app on your smartphone, tablet, or pc. You'll have access to thousands of channels in every language. It's free too.

Yes. I've been using an AppleTV for many years as my sole source of media content. I use a service called UnBlock-Us that allows me to access US Hulu, Netflix, HBO, Showtime. I use my nieces AT&T Uverse credentials to get access to many of the other cable channels through the AppleTV as well (Lifetime, FX, etc.) I have a 5Mb connection with Claro DSL and it works beautifully. Even when I had a 2Mb connection with Tricom I was able to stream video just fine.

It's been a perfect solution for me. When I return to the US, I'm going to continue using the AppleTV. I'm not going to subscribe to cable or satellite.

Thanks for the replies. Yes we use Claro and it has a good signal.
We have one smart tv and one non smart tv. Hope to use the Apple TV on the non smart.
Thanks

i don't know that apple TV,
but i use Netflix and it works very fine on Claro 3MB/0.75.
i use it on the smart tv(via WIFI), PC(via cable) and the smartphone on 4GLTE.
i also used it on my old smartphone on 3G Claro and it worked fine, too.

SantiagoDR, which brand/model is the DSL modem you bought? I was recently told by one high-up Claro Internet guy (one that is able to change client's internet speed at a whim just to test something, without calling a back office to do stuff) that Claro does not support custom modems and that frequently they are rendered useless by network updates.

Are there any good Kodi repos that have US sports (football, basketball) without freezing? I have a 20mb tricom connection and I get constant freezing.
