I was looking at Claro TV plans and they don't seem to have any of the major U.S. networks. Is there any TV provider in the Sosua/ Cabarete area that carries those networks?

forget Claro. it is a pile of sheet, in every respect. if they tried to operate in a market like the USA, they would last a month, if that much.

But the cable channels are the spanish equivalents.

For example, you won't get the NBA games on ESPN like in the US, you'll get soccer instead. Same goes for TNT, USA etc.

We had SKY for a couple of years, and cancelled our contract in June. Going back down in about a month, and was considering Claro TV, but their website doesn't show ANY of those stations. Is there a difference in programming between Claro wired and dish? http://www.claro.com.do/wps/portal/do/sc/personas/claro-tv/planes#info-03e

Also, has anyone tried VIVA?

I just use http://2ddl.download/ to watch my shows.
There is usually a gamefornt/Zippyshare link, which allows direct download with no waiting n codes etc.
So it goes as fast as your connection can support.
Shows are uploaded within hours of being aired, and they are edited with no commercial interruptions.

Only wired ( Premium and Superior packages ) have these channels ( ABC, NBC and CBS ). The Dish is for the Basic package and does not have these channels

We have a Claro dish. The only time we ever want to watch tv is on a rainy day. You probably guessed it. It doesn't work in the rain. When it does work its just as bad as north american tv. Nothing but pathetic reality shows. If I see one more Dancing with Has Been ads I might go postal.
