Welcome to DR1.

San Jose/Jaco, Costa Rica is your experience, so to get best advice tell us what you want in DR.......beach and small beach town or city with mountains nearby.

DR has it all but varies greatly depending where you choose or do you want a two center holiday?

It sounds like you are looking to meet your future ex-wife on Calle Pedro Clisante, just tell us your budget, and I'll recommend the nicest hoe-tel for the Peso!

I live in USA (NC) to be exact and my first trip with my wingman was to CR last week and we stayed in SJ and spent a day in Jaco area so we got to experience a lot. We were there for 3 nights and partied down pretty good and also had some fun with the chicas. We would like to do DR in a different sense like stay on the beach or really close and would also like to be near some nighttime activities like a casino/club etc. My wingman wants to have a pretty nice pool and be able to chill relax by the pool with some women there if possible.

Any help would be awesome and we are thinking visiting in mid Feb to mid March (how is it there that time of year)

thanks guys

Check this video and Pick up what area you would like to stay, I sugest you stay the weekend in Santo Domingo as you like night life and then go to some other area with beach.

wow that is probably the best video I've ever seen to introduce a country and all of it's parts, thanks. I've heard of Punta Cana of course but don't know much about Sosua and we just want to be by the beach pretty much I'm sure we can find some decent nightlife around those areas. I know in CR some hotels are starting to become NON guest friendly like El Presidente which use to be the main spot so we don't want to stay at a beach hotel that will give us an issue.

we might fish, do a few excursions but mainly it's to relax and take in the sights during the day

Yes this video is the best I have seem too. Punta Cana is more known even than Santo Domingo, all the promoticon in the past was only for Punta Cana, but now things are changing and they are starting to promote all areas. Wherever you decide to stay dont miss to visit Santo Domingo and the Colonial Zone.

What is your budget?

Casa Valeria is a cute boutique hotel, the pool is very small and only gets sun part of the day, the hotel is "tolerant" of guests, it also gets family folks, better choices for your hobby.

- Victoria House (Ocean Front)
- New Garden Hotel
- Terra Linda
- Casa Cayena

well the budget would be $100 a night for each room (I would like to have my own room and my wingman his own). I will check out these hotels you mentioned and I'm assuming they are guest friendly. thanks

just looked at all of those hotels and I like New Garden Hotel and Terra Linda. I can see they are walking distance to almost everything but does anyone know how far they are from the beach and do people surf at that beach in Sosua. On one of the hotels wwebsite is shows ppl surfing, didn't think DR was known for surfing like CR.

I recommend Casa Valeria, close to the beach, close to nightlife, guest friendly, close to all restaurants and close to the main street in Sosua (Pedro Calisante).
