Gripe has been kicking my butt for 4 days now with no end in sight.
Looking for some sort of homemade remedy that actually works, since the store bought stuff does nothing.
It ruined my attending the Christmas celebrations in the Campo and I don't want it to mess up the New Years Festivities.
The only thing that brought a little comfort was a concoction of homemade natural tea.
So, if anybody has any good anti-gripe remedies, please share...........

Plenty of fluids, Tylenol for the fever, lots of sleep.

One could take Tamiflu at the onset of symptoms if you can find it. Someone to complain to about how awful you feel seems to work momentarily for me.

There is no remedy. You only treat the symptoms to feel better. If the US drug store products like Nyquil PM etc do not help then you are pretty much out of luck and must just suffer till its is gone. A dose of patience, plenty of water helps a little. Good luck

I always try to remember to start taking Zinc tablets as a supplement when I start to feel sick.
(I have 3 bottles of it here, just so I don't run out)

It used for boosting the immune system, treating the common cold.... etc, etc, etc.

copious quantities of t? de jamaica. My girlfriend had 'el gripe' when I landed a week ago, and I only took a glancing blow.

The tea is loaded with vitamin C and who knows what else. The only downside is that I haven't figured out how to make a good alcoholic drink with it. It seems to kill the taste in a very unpleasant way.

Make Golden paste and take three tablespoons per day at least. Golden Paste I use; you make the amount you want but i use a
2 tablespoons of tumeric
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 tablespoon ginger
4 tablespoons organic honey
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

The answer is basically, no. Every Dominican has an OTC pastilla that they swear by. Juan---remember Juan?---swears by SuperCol. My friend Edith swears by Winapro. Or whatever. They only work with copious amounts of VeeVapoRoo.

Those 3 ingredients should work on anything....including hangnails. I have made a note of this. Thank you. For when the Nyquil runs out....

Last time I got it down there, I was prescribed sprite, one cold/flu pill, cold showers, and tons of Vicks.

If you go the Vicks route, remember the bottoms of your feet need a heavy coating.
