W10 crashed my last tablet so I got another that uses Android. Patches have fixed the old tablet, but now it's a backup.

I gave in and upgraded to W10 to get rid of the annoying pop-ups for W 10.

It works just fine on my HP. Nothing to be scared of really.
Probably easier to let it upgrade.

On my horrible standby ACER laptop thing it refused to upgrade as it's such a piece of junk.--But I still get the reminders.

We have a single Windows laptop in the office, and let it upgrade right after Thanksgiving. It's only sparingly used, but so far, no issues....

An alternative to installing new software to get rid of the message is here.

You can either remove the update that created the message, or make a registry setting to disable the message. Both methods are in the linked article.

My preference is to do it one of these methods instead of installing 3rd party software I don't know a lot about

Just let it upgrade, it isn't too bad. I upgraded and downgraded my laptop due to compatibility with our ancient software but I am keeping W10 on my tablet. I had issue where it log me out at one point but ever since reset, it had been solid travel companion.

I just hid the update and removed the Windows 10 icon from my tray. No more popups or reminders.

You should enter your computers service ID on the Manufacturers web site to see if they support your move to Windows 10 --- my 3 year old Dell - according to Dell is not supported... according to Microsoft - windows 10 is supported. I'll stay with Windows 7

Hlywood- it has little to do with the DR - until you upgrade and your computer no longer works -- But you are likely right - they won't be able to tell anyone!

People in the DR running windows 7 or 8 get the popups. Read the OP.

Unless I?m mistaken this has to do with 8 and 8.1? I?m using 7 since 2010 and have never received one single pop-up.

My back-up laptop was equipped with 8 when I bought it, hated every bit of it (even with Classic Shell), and installed 7 to it.

I?m personally not looking forward to 10... Considering Mac right now...
