I'm looking for a small cast iron Hibachi grill. The closer to Sosua the better.

Made in Hong Kong is ok (they gotta eat too)
Home made is ok - steel and rebar?
Used cast iron hibachi is ok
No sheet metal
No aluminum

Hope you find one.. I use to have a double, but that was long ago. I don't think they even make them anymore do they?? They worked excellent and were easy to pack away and maintain.

I was looking for one before I bought a gas BBQ... I was told to look in Santo Domingo. Good luck and please let us know if you find one.

Those burgers in the second picture look like they were cooked a long time ago in a galaxy far away.

Bite the bullet and pay the shipping..... eBay is your friend!

Cast Iron Hibachi Grill

The most popular one listed (The 1st one in your post) has a shipping weight of 18.6 lbs.

I may do that. I signed up for EPS and it gives an office choice of Sosua. I don't see anywhere on their site to get an estimate per weight? What would 20 lbs. cost approx.?

www.
Figure upwards of RD$200 per pound for shipment. You will need to be sure the bill is not more than US$200.

I am not sure if this total needs to also include the shipping charge made by the courier. Someone else could confirm. If so, then you should deduct the estimated shipping cost from the US$200.

CPS is cheaper than EPS. I would highly recommend them. In addition, if you contact them ahead of time and you're not in a rush to get your grill, they can ship it by sea which is cheaper than air. http://www.cpssosuacabarete.com They have an office in Sosua and another in Cabarete. I believe their charge (including taxes) is 180 pesos per pound or environs. EPS will charge for your taxes separately and add some weird fuel charge.

forget the shipper. if you must, send it with one of those mudanza companies. shipment of a box costs 35 bucks or so. but a skilled welder can make you one of these by order. the piggy one is pretty cool.

Update because I know everyone is waiting on the edge of their seats....I bought this one on ebay, took it out of the box and it fit snug in the bottom of my carry-on bag. When TSA saw it on the xray they thought it might be a small nuclear device and had to pull it out to inspect. But all was good after that. I got my Hibachi.

That's a nice bbq. Yesterday I was in polla and they were trying to sell aluminum pots as cast iron. My god. Enjoy the nice hibachi.
