    Default New Supermarket Chain

I searched the forums and my own posts to see where I mentioned this, but couldn't find it.

Anyway, this is the new supermarket chain I previously said is entering the Dominican market. They plan to build 10 stores nationwide, the first one open today in Naco, SD.

I think its an American chain.

SD being South Dakota? Why in Spanish then? Or is Nco a part of Santo Domingo? I have been to the one in Hollywood Florida.

Yes, I heard it's already open (on Tiradentes in Naco). Some kind of whole food kind of supermarket. It's where hotel Naco used to be.

I don't think it's a foreign chain though, seems a local initiative to me.

    Default new super?

As in maybe they might carry US/French products? And heaven help me: be the conduit for kosher food? Be still my heart!

Went by there today on Tiradentes around 1pm and all the gates were closed and no way to enter the parking lot. Apparently, they are not open yet.

Superfresh was owned by A & P out of NJ. They recently went bankrupt. Perhaps someone grabbed the name.

Not an American chain. I know the family that owns it.
Look like Italians, but are Haitians with many years experience working in Haiti.
As a specialist shop it is great, lots of things you cannot find anywhere else.
Possibly a bit pricey to do your weekly grocery shopping though.
Thought they also had something to do with Supermercado Amigo on GMR Avenue, but was told the other day they weren't.

miesposo visited it few days ago when he was in SD. sent me a bunch of pictures, lots of fancy shmancy imported organic stuff. kinda pricey but not outrageously. he brought me croissants, delicious.

Opening 10 stores as the OP states seems a little far fetched to me.
