I have had whales this week.... first sighting was Thursday AM

Off Cabo Frances Viejo... they come to the same spot every year
I mean within 100yds of the spot... really selective

For the uninitiated, these are Cdn whales from the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, for the most part.

Sometimes they just bubble the water, other times it's the full leap.

Yes! A few of our friends spotted them down on the malecon in Cabrera just over 3 weeks ago, which seemed a bit early but they were definitely whales, and jumping right out! Always nice to have that added treat to look out for when near the water for the next month or two.

Not early for us, we've seen them as early as mid December. Glad they are back, to see them breach is a special occasion!

In the late summer and early fall we see the whales from our cottage where the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers meet. And we
see them here in the DR from time to time.

I do not think that you can call them Canadian whales since they were all both conceived and born in the Dominican Repbulic

perhaps they are Canadian anchor whales?

or have Canadian green cards?

They are Dominican whales -- who chose not to spend the really cold months in their respective feeding grounds of Canada, greenland, Norway...

They feed at the Grand Banks.

They just open their mouths as the St Lawrence River pushes everything from the Great Lakes out to sea.

Best fishing in the world........... I am told

No, MA.... no Green Cards in Canada...............hehehe
