If you have worked for the same company for say 7 years, and you decide to resign with notice, are you entitled to liquidation or compensation?

If so, what period of notice would be necessary to work in order to be legible for this benefit?

You can try to ask for it, but they don't have to give you liquidation (cesantia).

In low paid jobs employers often give it anyway.

when you quit you are not entitled to liquidation, only when you are fired and are a citizen, resident or have a work permit.

In any kind of jobs (not just low paid jobs) I have seen frequently employers pay it, just to avoid any future headaches.

My former associate also worked as a marketing chief for a cable company. When he moved to Canada he got his full liquidation.
