    the girls were born yesterday and are joined by the tailbone. they present various congenital complications and the prognosis regarding their health is reserved.

    this is a second pair of conjoined twins born in DR within a year. in april 2015 in santiago two girls joined by the abdomen were born. their mother was a resident of la vega. they died shortly afterwards:

    according to diario libre article from 2011, in the last 40 years there were 15 cases of conjoined twins born in the DR:
