New Highway
Yes, Shackdom, the new highway between San Pedro and Boca Chica is better. But, don't let that give you a false sense of security. You still have to be careful, especially at night. The highway is still a work in progress and as such you still have to be cautious when you are in transit on it. Because of paving and other upgrades in different sections, you can go from a divided highway of multiple lanes to a road of single lanes of opposing directions quickly. Those areas can change from week to week. What was a divided highway one week is now undivded this week. Because the posted direction signs, detours and hazard signs (i.e., rocks in the road) , if any, are poor, you have to rely on experience, a good sense of direction and daylight. An example of this is the eastbound off ramp on the eastern end of the the new highway where it joins the local road just to east of Juan Dolio . This off ramp has had at least three minor location changes at the end of the ramp within the last six weeks. During the day this is no problem, you can see the changes, at night it is a problem. If you are not careful you may end up in a ditch in an area that was the end of the ramp the previous week. Yes, it is much better; during the day. Regards, PJT
