Has anybody attempted to ship household items to the DR? I assumed that shipping was too expensive, so I've been bringing small amounts on every trip and donating the rest to charity.

What about taxes? I assumed that I would get dinged for a large screen TV, etc.

check this thread: http://dr1.com/forums/showthread.php/145041-Mudanzas-Post-your-shipper

lots of info on shipping companies. mudanzas have their ways of dealing with taxes. you can ship quite a lot of household items in boxes or barrels: towels, cooking utensils, small appliances and so on. a mudanza will also organize bringing larger items such as cars, electronics, furniture and so on. you tell them what you want to bring and they will give you a full quote.

a posted meemselle brought few containers recently, she may count her experience f you ask.
