What is a reasonable rate to have a form notarized in this country? It is a form for The Ministry of Transportation in Ontario Canada.

Nothing reasonable as far as I know. I believe you need an attorney and can expect to pay about 3000 pesos. We needed a form notarized for US last year and suffered sticker shock because back home it's normally free at your bank, etc

Good to know. The Canadian embassy wants $100US. I approached one lawyer who wants 1500DP. At home I could have done it for free at The Ministry of Transportation.

I had a form notarized in Puerto Plata about a year and a half ago. That lawyer charged me 600 pesos.

Be careful of the scam where a notary tries to charge you a percentage of the contract, if the document is a contract. There is some obscure old law that stipulates that, but then the lawyer does not tell you that over a certain amount (which is not high), the percentage is 'to be negotiated.'

That depends... if the lawyer/notary draft the document, paying 1000 to 1500 pesos is NOT unusual.

I draft my own documents (poder, etc.) and I just pay 300 pesos for the "stamp". I already have the notary's data (colectilla) so she just really needs to place one stamp and signature on a piece of paper. 300 pesos for a 30 second job is good pay, IMHO.
