You need to get out of that hospital as soon as you can, before they kill you. Get to HOMS in Santiago if you want to get treatment, without getting overpriced, strung along, and possibly permanently disfigured.

It'll cost you $100 to get to Santiago by Taxi, and it will be the smartest $100 you ever spent.

Go now!

Here is an example of CMC's handy work.

The first one is my daughters broken femur upon admission, the second and third are AFTER they "reduced" is and wanted to discharge her

They said it was "a little" out of alignment and we should could come back in a few weeks. As you can see, they made it worse. Her bones were crossed in the post reduction film, and they knew about it, and they left it that way. My only guess for them leaving it was that they wanted to make more money for more surgical procedures. Thankfully, I got the X-rays and my wife left with er AMA. I say the X-rays, and she went to HOMS. HOMS was appalled, you could see it in their faces.

Get to Santiago or Santo Domingo.

While this Op's question has deteriorated into yet another thread kvetching about CMC, my husband just had this third successful surgery there today. We are very grateful to have CMC in our community.

And why is that an issue. Some people have had horrible experiences at CMC. Only your feeling matter? People come to these forums to get the truth, and then they can decide who to believe and make decisions. Why do you get to defensive when people have bad things to say about CMC?

Really, today he had surgery, that sounds awfully convenient. No suprise the Sosua propaganda committee is here to sell sunshine and rainbows

this thread is, however, about recommending a specialist, not about opinions regarding CMC.

I think people's opinions on the clinic is important and should be included in this thread.

some posters have been VERY vocal about their hatred for CMC. fair enough. but it makes every thread on this subject deteriorate. i think the goal here is to be informative rather than critical.

Thanks for all the responses to my urgent question. Without any initial response, I went back to CMC early yesterday. I was in a lot of pain, and the inflammation/infection in the fractured ankle had not improved, only worsened in 6 days with prescribed
antibiotics and the usual protocol of (RICE) rest, ice, compression, elevation.

I was totally ****ed off with CMC and the init

ReCap from OP

Returned to CMC with fire in my attitude towards the hospital and the doctor (Tavares) who had previously
"Treated" me. I gave them the riot act and put up a big, loud complaint. Requested a specialist immediately.
Fortunately, the big powers got into action. I was quickly ushered into a private office (with my boyfriend) to
consult with Dr. Carlos Reyes Salas. He is Very professional and intelligent. He checked my previous medical
paperwork and prescribed medications. Totally changed the plan, the new medications, FREE of $ Cost.
The previous visit was more than 33,000 pesos, so they had better do right..

Today, there is huge improvement in my recovery which I Hope will continue.

Many thanks to a great doctor, Reyes Salas

In DR you can't just walk in into *any* hospital and expect to be treated with any degree of professionalism. Has to be a specific doctor highly referred by someone in the know. Otherwise you can go to HOMS with abdominal pain and get treated by some second year idiot student who will misdiagnose your burst apendix and send you home with pain killers (actually happened to a friend of mine who nearly died). On the other hand there are great doctors sometimes working in 2nd tier hospitals (e.g. Corominas in Santiago). Just commenting on the whole 'HOMS is great, CMC is crap' theme...

Many of the good doctors work in in all three (Union Medico , Corominas, and HOMS) Both my wife and I have had minor surgery at Union Medico and both operations were carried out professionally by very experienced doctors. My surgeon did his internship in Boston. Many Dominican doctors have foreign experience or school, often in South America.
