Another sad ending to the never ending story here in Santiago, the women, the looks and chasing the fairytale.

In the DR when you are the victim of medical incompetence there is no recourse. Surgery is not an area to try and save money. In happens in first world countries but at least the family of the deceased have options.

Dominican sister in law had gall bladder surgery in a private clinic and was left with a frankenstein scar that is horrible. Young people dying needlessly in cosmetic surgery happening too frequently.

Since the DR is such a rich country with a massive rise in the middle class (per Pichardo) why waste months/years of exercise and dieting when a butcher with a knife can slice away the fat with an hour

i sympathize with the approach of wanting a bit of help because i sure would go under the knife to fix little problems here and there, if i had the money. but it ain't easy to repair post baby damage. this is not just a tiny blob of fat but completely letting yourself go thinking the surgeon's scalpel will miraculously bring your old figure back.

it's more like a family member of mine who put way over 50 lbs in her pregnancies saying that it does not matter because she'll have plastic surgery later. seeing that her c-sections took 4 months to heal each time and left her looking like a slaughtered pig i cannot even imagine how she expects to go through more cutting.
