They must sell cheap ones in the DR.

There are also different types.(gel form) The one for chafing dishes (warming up pre-made food) and fondues.

And the one for cooking food which gives out a stronger glow or heat.

Just a thought , Sterno is ridiculously EASY to make yourself. and a better quality burn too.
IF you are using it OUTDOORS.
The home made does not burn as BLUE, or clean ?, but is a better hotter flame, IMO.

This simple video shows how easy it is.. for pennies you can make your own.
just an idea.. Then you never have to depend on buying them from the store.
and always have FRESH on hand.

91% Rubbing Alcohol (the most expensive part )
Diatomaceous Earth
and Horticultural Perlite
its so easy. and you would have like virtually unlimited supply.

I might be mistaken but I think I've seen some at Nacional by the hardware items.

I might have seen it in Hig?ey at Iberia in the rear corner with the aluminum products or hardware stores, otherwise, you might try some charcoal in a pan under your chafing dishes or even rum with a cotton wick.
