Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition. It occurs when the 13th day of the month in the Gregorian calendar falls on a Friday.
According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day, making it the most feared day and date in history. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. "It's been estimated that [US]$800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day"
A study in the British Medical Journal, published in 1993, concluded that there "is a significant level of traffic-related incidences on Friday the 13th as opposed to a random day, as if driving in the DR could really get any worse, or could it......:ermm:

Everybody have a fine day and good luck

Great, maybe we will get some rest on Friday from some of the loud sound trucks and caravans.

From DR1 news for Thursday, 12 May 2016:

President Danilo Medina's re-election campaign ends today, Thursday 12 May

- vs -

The PRM is scheduled to close their campaign on Friday, 13 May

I fail to see how. These people will simply shop on Thursday and Saturday and buy the same things. I really doubt that many people actually fast on Friday 13th.

In any case, enjoy whatever peace and quiet the absence of sound trucks results.

However, in the DR, martes trece (Tuesday, the 13th), not Friday, is the day feared.

So... so much for superstition, gods, and all that jazz.

There's no teapot orbitting in outer space, and you know it.

However, in the DR, martes trece (Tuesday, the 13th), not Friday, is the day feared.

NOT only in the DR, but throughout the Spanish-speaking world (and apparently also in Greece and possibly in other cultures).

Martes: No te cases ni te embarques
(ni te tu familia te apartes).

Tuesday: Do not marry nor embark yourself (on a journey)
nor get apart from your family

BTW, the oficial Spanish name of the movie series "Friday the 13th" is "Martes 13"

I was married 28 years ago on Friday May 13th. A few potholes in the road over the years but we are still going strong.

Congratulations, you're one of the lucky one's.........
Well, it depends on which culture...In the Spanish or Greek culture (maybe in others) Friday the 13th is not so bad...as stated earlier, it is Tuesday the 13th the real problem.
