does la sirena have them again too? for a while they stocked imported lemons, oranges and mandarins (or whatever they are called, clementines? tangerines?). we used to buy several pounds in one go and they always sold fast. then they stopped bringing them. wrrr...

we got 2,000 pesos worth of mandarins from la sirena. a bit of an overkill, perhaps, but they are soooo good. they did not have any in the store but we asked nicely and the worker brought a huge bag from the back. i later overheard some dominican ladies complaining out loud that la sirena was serving hidden stuff to the gringos. the gringos! the audacity.

My day made by "American" sweet potatoes in Playero. Not batatas. Sweet potatoes that are orange inside. And the price was right. After 10 years, FINALLY!!!
