I know they are somewhere in the vast memory of DR1 but various search attempts have failed to bring them up....been off with some visiting friends on a two week camping adventure into the Sierra de Baoruco and one of them will have over stayed his tourist card when he gets ready to leave next month.

Can anyone give me a quick reference to just where this information ( latest ) is hiding out or a listing of the fees.

take care,

kFrancisco de Cabral

Since I have the regularizacion stamp in my USA passport do I have to pay the overstay fee? Anybody been thru this? I entered on Sept 5 2015 and have my ticket to leave on the 6th of Sept this year. SO I missed the 5000 by a few hours if I have to pay it!

Straight into the pocket of the man in charge, same as paying overweight when leaving...
Believe me.

If you have the visa in your passport, then you do not have to pay the exit fee. Hand you passport to them, open to where the visa is. They will however insist that you pay the entry fee if / when you come back, like all the other tourists.

Well apparently, it starts on the day 1 that is the entry stamp in your passport for the overstay fines rather than day 31 being the starting point.

Depends on how you interpret the chart. Do you consider the "time column" as time in the country or does the "time column" actually mean the amount of overstay time? I go with overstay time as it is an Overstay Fee chart.

Depends on who you get at the airport. I have been through it. Once--last August--they didn't charge overstay bc they read my regulaizacion stamp (in process) and said, no. You don't need to pay.

I re-entered, and they didn't charge me the US$10.

But then I left this past June. They once again didn't charge the overstay. But then they charged me the US$10 entry, bc a smart agent looked at my stamp and noticed I am still in process.

There is no rhyme or reason.

Just bring sufficient pesos/euros/dollars. Maybe you don't have to hand them over. But you might.

Airport personnel may get the same memo, but they may not interpret it the same way.

It's La Republica Dominicana.

It's not the same rule for anybody at any time no matter what dox you have.

Unless you have a North American/European passport as well as a Dominican one. And maybe still not even then.

Migracion control is a life unto itself. That is all.

I just went to Canada on Monday September 12, as I do not have a Valid Cedula, I was prepared to

pay the Departure Tax of $6,500 rd at the customs desk as I had been here over 1 year, but less than

18 months. The customs officer looked in my passport and found the "REGULARIZACION

MIGRATORIA" sticker in my passport, I paid NOTHING ! , and possibly on my return do not need to

purchase a "TOURIST CARD" either !

It looks like I'm already over my 30 days. I was wondering if this prejudices any future attempt at residence.

It starts on Day 1 as previously stated. Day 1 of entry.

Your tourist card is good for 30 days. If you leave two weeks later on day 14, you're still within the 30 day limit of your tourist card and you don't pay any overstay penalty.

Leaving out of POP, immigration always started counting beginning 31 days after the date of entry for me - day 1 after expiration of tourist card(?).

The Fee starts from Day 1. Yes, your time clock on the tourist card ends on day 30 but the fee schedule goes from day 1.

When I got my residency, I had to pay any outstanding overstay fees. Depending on how they counted it, I either overstayed less than a year, or more than one year. I paid the lower overstay fee. Maybe I just got lucky and they didn't know any better(?).
