Cirque du Soleil?s ?Ovo? at Palacio de los Deportes
Deborah Colker from Rio de Janeiro who choreographed the 2016 Olympic Games opening ceremony is the writer and director of ?Ovo,? the Cirque Du Soleil show that will be performed at Santo Domingo?s Palacio de los Deportes from 27 to 30 October 2016.

Ticket prices are RD$4,500, RD$3,500 and RD$1,500. La Sirena superstore chain is offering a promotion with a two tickets for the price of one from 31 August to 2 October.

Ovo premiered in Montr?al in 2009. Colker says she was inspired by the world of insects. The idea for Ovo was not to be about the acts, or dancing, or insects, but about movement.

Molotov brings Mexican rock in October
Mexico?s Molotov is coming to Santo Domingo as part of its 20th anniversary tour.

The Mexican rock band will be playing at Escenario 360 of Galeria 360 shopping center on Tuesday, 18 October 2016. Tickets are for sale at Ticketexpress.com.do for RD$1,260 to RD$1,800.


11th Dominicana Moda set for 18-22 October
This year?s Dominicana Moda, the country?s leading Dominican fashion event will be held at the Hotel Embajador in Santo Domingo from 18-22 October. Five runway shows a day are planned. Dominicana Moda is a platform for showcasing both established and emerging Dominican designers.

This year the fashion show once again focuses on Dominican design, as well as on Central American and Caribbean fashion. There will be guest runway shows with designers from Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, Puerto Rico and Haiti.

Model Lineisy Montero is being honored for her fashion-modeling career.

The event is organized by Mirka Morales, S?crates Mckinney and Fidel L?pez


Hodelpa takes on Hostal Nicolas de Ovando
The Colonial City?s iconic 104-room Hostal Nicolas de Ovando has been rebranded as Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando and is now managed by Hodelpa Hotels. The hotel was previously operated as an MGallery hotel by AccorHotels, a French chain.

Hodelpa Hotels, the Santo Domingo-based hotel chain, has been operating another property in the Colonial City, the 54-room Hodelpa Caribe Colonial on Calle Isabel la Catolica.

Located on Calle Las Damas, the Nicolas de Ovando overlooks the Ozama River and is located in the historic palace of the first governor of the city of Santo Domingo in colonial times.

Hodelpa will also be operating the Mercure Hotel on Calle El Conde and the closed Hotel Frances, the 16th century hotel that suffered major damage during excavations as part of the Colonial City restoration program, as reported in Infotur Dominicano.

Hodelpa has three hotels in Santiago (Gran Almirante, Garden Court and Centro Plaza) and two in Juan Dolio (Garden Suites and Emotions).
