Valeu Cara!
1- Forming a line is only recognized when there is a Watchman around .
2- As a guest while visiting a home, you must have a seat, standing is disrespectable.
3- The term ?I will see? really means no.
4- Everyone in the street loves to give you direction.
5- Public transportation drivers are masters at cutting you off.
6- Times given, for someone to meet you, one must always add 2 hours.
7- Conversations in public are open to anyone, within earshot, to chime in and comment.
8- Carwashes are pubs that wash your car.
9- Women are always looking their best.
10- Only foreign men wear shorts, period !

Added bonus, Customer service, my bad, there is no direct translation in DR.

In towns and cities where the main public transportation is by motoconcho, the women wear skirts much less.

ducadista, funny.

We beat that shorts thing to death. Too True

Mr. AE lives in shorts in DR. Only puts on jeans [and sneakers, for that matter] when we're going into a restaurant or a doctor's appt. Don't get me started on the shirts, or lack thereof.

Great contrast to his 4 brothers, who are typical Dominicans. Long pants, long sleeve dress shirts most of the time, etc. Very proper. Guess I married the rebel.

I do see Dominicans wearing shorts. Frequently. But then I am in Cabarete.

People in the street love giving directions even if they don't know where you are going.

I live in shorts while in the DR and the US for that matter. The one pet peeve that really ****es me off is the line thing. No one respects lines.

My mechanic, who could squeeze the oil out of any of us, only wears shorts.... and no shirt usually
My 80 yr old neighbor wears shorts.

More prevalent than you think. Might be a geographical thing.

It seems that shorts are most common where the tourists are. In Barahona, women, girls and boys wear mostly pants and shorts, but men wear long pants.

Even of they do give directions you won't get where you wanted to.

Unless you are having a conversation in a whisper, a Dominican will always add their two cents and unfortunately of no use.

When I first arrove the woman i lived with assured me that Dominicans didn't wear shorts or T-Shirts. So we stood on a corner and of the first 100 people that passed us over half had either shorts or a T-Shirt or both. Sitting here right now watching the people passing on motorcycles and I am seeing the samething. Lots of shorts, men and women both.

So its sounds like we may have spotted a dozen Dominicans who wear shorts. Of 10 million, I would say they rarely wear shorts. I never see it in the Capital

A dozen !!!????

12 out of 20 maybe in my barrio.......

As for the capital, same as NYC..... different dress code

I admit, it depends where you are/live.

The long pants are handy for avoiding dengue/chunky chicky/ zika
